Devotional:
If we analyze the laws of nature, we can see the beautiful creations made from this thing we call pressure. The diamonds that grace our skin, the children that bring joy into our lives and even the olive oil we use to accentuate our beauty.
Because pressure causes great discomfort, our natural human instinct is to escape it. But what beauty are we missing out on, when we choose to avoid it? What blessing now escapes from our grasp? What parts of us won’t evolve?
Whenever we look in the Bible, we are able to see different aspects of God’s character. One thing that has remained since the beginning of time, is that He purposes high pressure scenarios for our good. We witnessed this at the parting of the Red Sea, in the fiery furnace with the three Hebrew boys and even in the lions den with Daniel.
In the moment, pressure made everything appear to be over. But as with everything, God always gets the final say. For the Israelites, the pressure led to their deliverance. For the three Hebrew boys, promotion. For Daniel, great recognition.
What is God’s pressure producing for you?
Scripture(s) Meditation:
"We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed."
