Wells of Life

Devotional:

Normally when thirsty, you reach for the very thing that can quench your thirst. But when you find yourself lost in the spiritual seas, what do you reach for? Out of desperation, many of us would begin to drink the saltwater that is in great quantity around us. Only sinking deeper into a dehydrated pit of despair.

When one finds themselves in this position, you must begin to look inward. Though the Samaritan woman met with Jesus at a physical well, this metaphorically represented the chambers of her heart. Deep inside, her soul was crying out for more. But in ignorance, she kept going back to what she knew. Not knowing, that with one simple request, every void that caused her to lay in the bed of many men would be filled.

You see, Christ lives within you. He is seated within the innermost chambers of your heart. And though you may be surrounded by the things of this world that seek to drain your life. You have an internal well of life, that can keep you satiated. An internal place that will provide you with more than enough.

But will you cry out for the water, that will forever fulfill your needs?

Scripture(s) Meditation:

"Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

John 4:13-14 NIV

What are you reaching for in your external environment to fulfill your soul's cry? What keeps you returning to the thing that drains you? How can you begin to look inward?

I was looking for self value and love in my external environment to fulfill my souls cry. I was using my kindness as a weakness, people pleasing and trying to buy or work my way into my friends and family’s hearts because that was the only time I was noticed or included. I wanted so badly for the people I loved to reciprocate it but it only led me down a long road of bondage to false hopes and perceptions and being manipulated. I was forced to look inward when I got cancer and couldn’t keep up anymore with trying to fit in the world that was rejecting me to the point of decay. So grateful Jesus saved me and…
