  • SHIFT

Devotional: When you are asleep at night and you find yourself in an uncomfortable position, what do you do? If you are like most people, you will move in a way that alleviates the discomfort you’re feeling. One thing I love about God is that He knows how to make us shift. I don’t ever worry about if I’m not moving fast enough because when God wants us to move, He knows exactly how to get us moving. The main way God gets us to “shift” is through discomfort. When things become too high pressured or uncomfortable for us, we shift. Though this seems like an instant move, it actually occurs in steps. I describe it as the three S’s. There’s the soreness, the stretching and then the actual shift itself. Soreness: The intensity of life turns up to a level that causes severe discomfort and pain. This represents God wanting to do something new in your life. Things may have grown stagnant or you could simply be shifting from one season to the next. Regardless, discomfort is required to begin the process of transition. Stretching: To alleviate the tension caused by this uncomfortableness, it forces you to stretch. This represents God increasing you and bringing you to higher levels. Whether that’s more prayer, fasting, seeking His Word etc. He stretches you, so you can run at the appointed time. Shift: Once you’ve been stretched, then you can shift by changing your position. This represents God bringing you into the new. This new could be a new job, relationship, dimensional ascension etc. But this is a place where you will receive rest as you walk into that new thing. You may find yourself at one of these stages right now, and know that you must trust God every step of the way. He knows how to get you to SHIFT, and some seasons require more soreness than others. Scripture(s) Meditation: “We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed—” ‭‭II Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬-‭9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ Reflection Question(s): We invite you to discuss below. At what part of the process do you find yourself right now? What are you learning the most? Knowing what you know now, how are you perceiving your process differently? Sun'Ray💕

  • Feeling Overwhelmed

Devotional: On this faith walk, I have encountered many difficult moments. Majority of those times, I didn't know how I’d get out of it. However, time and time again God had proven He would do exactly what He said. But what do you do when  the memory of what God has done isn’t enough? Or when you are presently facing dire circumstances and all you can think of is how impossible your situation is? Coming from personal experience, it’s hard to get yourself out of that dark place. I wish as quick as you got there is as quickly as you get out. However, I’d be lying to both you and me. During those moments of “defeat”, you have to find your way back to the secret place. You have to know that those “impossible” situations, are ones that aren’t in your control. It requires true trust and complete surrender, which I know at times is easier said than done. But in that secret place is where you become less reliant on you and fully reliant on the power of God. To that person that is having a rough time getting out of this dark place, I want you to know that you aren’t alone. Even if you have to repeat “I surrender” a million times until you feel that release, play praise and worship music to shift your mood, pray just asking God to carry the burden or even going for a walk to clear your mind. Whatever it takes to get you back into the secret place, do it. For there is peace there. There is protection there. And more importantly, there is provision there. Scripture(s) Meditation: “Jesus looked hard at them and said, “No chance at all if you think you can pull it off yourself. Every chance in the world if you trust God to do it.”” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭19‬:‭26‬ ‭MSG‬‬ “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭91‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ Reflection Question(s): We invite you to discuss below. What does the secret place look like to you? How does it feel when you are there? Sun'Ray💕

  • Why Rush?

Devotional: I’ve reached a place in my life where I stopped rushing. I finally realized, by the grace of God, that I would get where I needed when I needed to. There was no reason for me to inconvenience myself and move any faster than need be. In this state, I yielded even more to the unctions of the Holy Spirit. I caught things I wouldn’t have, had I chosen to rush. When you look at this world that we live in, there are so many people who choose to rush over taking things slow. I mean our entire society is based around it. I remember back in the day my mom would order something from Lane Bryant through the catalog, and it would take weeks to come. Now people are upset if Amazon Prime takes an extra day to deliver a package. What has happened? I’ll tell you. People have begun to speed up time as if that means they will have more. All the time God has allotted for us is all that we will have. Instead of rushing from one thing to the next or even your own spiritual relationship with God, learn to bask in each moment. Learn to bask in each revelation. Think of how sturdy the mightiest oak in the forest is because it chose to deepen it’s roots before breaking ground. My prayer today is that you too become a mighty oak and learn to slow down. Scripture(s) Meditation: “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭37‬:‭23‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ Reflection Question(s): We invite you to discuss below. Truly think about it, what are you in a rush for? What do you gain by rushing everywhere? What can you gain by slowing down? Sun'Ray💕

  • Finding Peace in Trouble

Devotional: There’s no doubt that when you turn on the news, it reveals the wicked and cold world you live in. That scripture indeed was right when it says that in the times of the end the hearts of many shall wax cold. (Matthew 24:12) You see it on the news, over social media and even through some of the shows and movies that people choose to indulge themselves in. No matter where you turn, the world reveals it’s a troublesome place. Knowing this however, its important you find that outlet of peace. That in the midst of chaos your world can remain steady. Where do you find this peace? In Christ. In the scripture meditation today, Jesus speaks very clearly to this truth. That because He has overcome the world, you too can overcome it’s troubles by choosing to rest in Him. As you abide in Christ and He in you, you will bear much fruit. (John 15) One of the fruits of the spirit is peace. (Galatians 5:22) So the way to find peace in such a troubled world is to simply choose to abide in Jesus. The one who is the way, the truth and the life. Scripture(s) Meditation: “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”” ‭‭John‬ ‭16‬:‭33‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ Reflection Question(s): We invite you to discuss below. How will you switch your routine and learn to abide in Jesus? Sun'Ray💕

  • Nobody Knows

Devotional: By now, many of you have experienced the multitude of ways that Satan can creep in. Whether it be through others, your dreams and sometimes even your own thoughts. But you want to know the one that troubles so many Christians worldwide? When he can back you into a corner to believe this very phrase, “nobody knows what I’ve been through.” Back when I was in college, there’s this song called “Nobody Knows” that I used to play out. (If your ears aren’t too religious, you should definitely listen to it to gain what I’m saying here.)  In this song, the young artist croons about the difficult road he traveled in this life. How now that he is in a better position, all they can see are the rewards. But they never saw all the toil and strife that came behind it. How many of you can relate? Though this song provided young me much comfort, I can look back now and see the seeds Satan planted. There’s nothing false about nobody knowing what all you’ve been through. The lie comes in when you believe that no one will understand you. Because no one can say they experienced your same trials, their understanding will never be deep enough. But let’s be real here, you think in a world with seven billion people that no one understands you? That no one can possibly relate to your pain? I’ll be the first to say our trials may be different but a trial is a trial. What’s easy for you may be difficult for someone else. What Satan wants you to believe is that you are alone in your trials, but truth is you aren’t. Somewhere across the world or even your own town, someone is experiencing the same thing, possibly even worse. Nobody may know your exact struggle, but trust me, they know. Scripture(s) Meditation: “Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.” ‭‭II Timothy‬ ‭3‬:‭12‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ Reflection Question(s): We invite you to discuss below.' Does feeling like no one understands you keep you from creating new relationships and friendships? Does it make you want to stay away from human contact in general? How will you change this narrative? Sun'Ray💕

  • Burdensome Emotions

Devotional: When I was interested in becoming a physician, there was one common suggestion I noticed. They’d always mention to not stress. While in Neurobiology and Anatomy, I learned the detrimental effects stress causes on the body. That physiologically, we truly are not designed for stress. Yet, for some strange reason, we choose to lay in the bed of our emotions daily. We make the sheets, with those things we lack. And pat the pillows, with more offense towards ourselves than love. Does this sound familiar? There are things that God does sanction us to carry in this life, but burdensome emotions aren’t one of them. Yes, we should long suffer, yes there will be hard days, but rolling around in defeat, thoughts of lack and more, aren’t what He had planned for us. Burdensome emotions are those we have chosen to lay with because they make us comfortable. But how can we be comfortable with something that causes our body so much pain? Today some of you find yourself in this same situation. Where day after day, you are making the same choices to lay in this emotional bed sprayed with this Febreeze fragrance. You are only fooling yourselves if you think that covering up the true smell of these emotions will make them breeze away. It’s time for you to carry these sheets, pillows and comforters to Jesus and allow Him to carry your burdensome emotions so you don’t have to. Scripture(s) Meditation: “casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” ‭‭I Peter‬ ‭5‬:‭7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11‬:‭28‬-‭30‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ Reflection Question(s): We invite you to discuss below. What are those burdensome emotions that you are leaving at the feet of the Father today? Sun'Ray💕

  • Feeling Discouraged?

Devotional: Discouragement only comes once you've been distracted. What in your life has been a distraction for you? You know what God said, but what in your situation goes against that? Instead of allowing Satan to use discouragement to cause amnesia, remind yourself of the promises of God. As you remember, begin to decree/declare God's Words over your situation. God said He will take care of you? Look that distraction in the face and declare what God has told you. God said no weapon formed against you shall prosper? Look that distraction that's formed in the face and declare it shall not prosper! Don't allow discouragement to keep you from experiencing the joyful hope God has promised you. To learn more about the power of memory (rememberance), check out our teaching on YouTube here! Scripture(s) Meditation: “You will also declare a thing, And it will be established for you; So light will shine on your ways.”‭‭Job‬ ‭22‬:‭28‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ Reflection Question(s): We invite you to discuss below. What in your life has been a distraction for you? Where in your day does the shift from hope to despair happen? Sun'Ray💕

  • Run your Race

Devotional: I found myself at the beach early one Sunday morning and there happened to be a race going on. Some people were moving fast, others slow and some even alternated their pace. Regardless of their speed, I noticed one thing with them all. They were focused on their own race individually and not the race as a whole. See, there comes a point in your life where you stop becoming focused on the speed that it takes you or others to reach a destination. Where instead of focusing on how quick it takes to get there, you’re more focused on just getting there. Whether you had to run fast as you could or even crawled across the finish line, it just became important that you made it. For you have grown to know that time and chance happens to them all. What does that mean? You grew to know that no matter how fast or slow someone ran along the race of life, there would be a set moment for that person to shine. A set moment for that person to get elevated. It doesn’t happen to some people, but to us all. So until that moment comes for you, continue to run your race at the speed that works best for you. Scripture(s) Meditation: “I returned and saw under the sun that— The race is not to the swift, Nor the battle to the strong, Nor bread to the wise, Nor riches to men of understanding, Nor favor to men of skill; But time and chance happen to them all.” ‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭9‬:‭11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12‬:‭1‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ Reflection Question(s): We invite you to discuss below. As you run the race of life, what are those things that distract you from going at it in your own pace? How can you rid yourself of those distractions? Sun'Ray💕

  • The Tides of Remembrance

Devotional: When I was younger, I somehow acquired this beautiful seashell. It was large, tan in color and had these spiky ends. I grew to love it not just because of it’s looks but because of what it held inside. Whenever I would hold it to my ear, I could hear the waves of the sea. A sea I’ve never been to but yet I could share this memory as if it were my own. As you journey through the Old Testament, you can recognize the number one issue the Israelites had. They failed to hold up their “seashells” so they too could remember the goodness of God. Instead they allowed their surroundings to overpower their miraculous experiences. Which only led them further down the path of condemnation, regret and deep shame. It makes me wonder, if they were to listen to the memories stored deep in their heritage would they have continued on their crooked path? I mean, only God knows that but what about what that means for us? Some of you may currently find yourselves struggling to make it through your current circumstances. But as Asaph teaches us in the scripture meditation below, there’s power in embracing the tides of remembrance. What are those seashells you have that when you hold them, they remind you of God’s goodness and faithfulness? Is it your journals? Some videos? Instagram Archives? Snapchat Memories? Whatever and wherever they are, locate them today. And spend some time meditating on the goodness of God. Scripture(s) Meditation: “I call to remembrance my song in the night; I meditate within my heart, And my spirit makes diligent search.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭77‬:‭6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ Reflection Question(s): We invite you to discuss below. When was the last time that you just simply meditated on the goodness of the Lord? Sun'Ray💕

  • “We were like grasshoppers”

Devotional: Throughout my life, I struggled with “confidence.” The funniest thing to me was that everyone around me thought the exact opposite. Growing up, if you asked people what they loved about me, confidence would be amongst the first few things they’d mention. It would always baffle me because how could people see something in me, that I never saw? But as I drew closer to God, He began to do the same thing. What do I mean? As you draw closer to God, He will show you things about yourself that you won’t believe. It’s not because He’s a liar, but more because those lies you tell yourself? You begin to believe them. So when God says something great about you, you immediately “return to sender.” It reminds me specifically of the children of Israel. God mentioned their greatness and how He gave them the land of promise, yet when seeing what they stood up against, they simply replied, “We were like grasshoppers.” My question is how could the Israelites know what they looked like to the giants? The giants probably never even noticed they were there! A lot of us are the same exact way. Circumstances might have changed, but how we see ourselves are often far below the mark that God sets. How you see yourself speaks largely to the size of your mind. The Israelites only saw themselves as the size of grasshoppers because that’s the level of thinking they were at. Their minds weren’t big enough to receive the promise. For you, you may find yourself in this same place. Where you’ve begun to lessen yourself based off what you think others think. Unless you can read minds, you’re truly incapacitating your ability to walk into the land of promise. Scripture(s) Meditation: “There we saw the giants (the descendants of Anak came from the giants); and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.”” ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭13‬:‭33‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ Reflection Question(s): We invite you to discuss below. How do you see yourself? Are you a big guy or a small fry? Sun'Ray💕

  • Those aren’t my thoughts

Devotional: Proverbs 23:7 says that, “ as a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” The heart represents the innermost part of our spiritual being. Whatever you ponder on there, is what you will be in the physical. If you take a second to think back to your childhood, some of those thoughts in your heart have become you. Though you may not like to admit it, it’s the truth. There comes a time in life where you have to take an inventory of what’s in your heart. Did God put those things there? Did you? Or did someone else? And why do the thoughts others put there, matter more? Most of this comes from a root of rejection, turned into people pleasing. For others it’s something greater than that. But regardless, you are now at the age where you have to take hold of the things happening deep inside of you. Yes, I know what mama said, but you are an adult now. You can rewrite that lie with God’s truth. Yes, I know what your ex said, but you have to stop letting people live rent free in a life they aren’t living. Instead of just entertaining any thought that springs up, bring them into submission to the authority of Jesus Christ. Start asking, “who put this here?”, “will this bring me closer to God or push me further away?”. If the answer is no on both ends, then PULL IT DOWN! It’s time you start living and the only way to do that is to clean up the meditation of your heart. When you meditate more on what God says or what you say that’s in accordance to His will you will experience life in a more abundant way. Scripture(s) Meditation: “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭23‬:‭7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,” ‭‭II Corinthians‬ ‭10‬:‭4‬-‭5‬ ‭NKJV‬ Reflection Question(s): We invite you to discuss below. What’s one thought someone else put in your heart? What does God say about that thought? How will you remind yourself of what God says whenever the lie springs up? Sun'Ray💕

  • Frfr, Do you trust me?

Devotional: Faith does start out the size of a mustard seed, but you must not forget that seed must grow. It must be appropriately nurtured with the living water and watched over to ensure it grows into a beautiful large tree. What does this have to do with trusting God? When it comes to trusting God, it requires you to have faith in Him. There are some things that God will do in your life that though you may not know how it will fully turn out, you trust Him. These are circumstances that are slightly similar to what God has already done for you before. So of course it’s easy for you to have faith and trust Him, because you’ve seen something done like this before. But what about when God wants to grow your faith tree? What does that require? For one, it will look like a situation or circumstance you’ve never been in. Which means, you can’t automatically pull a piece of fruit from your faith tree and say ,” Here God, I already have enough faith you will do that.” Nah. You don’t have the fruit yet, which is why it requires you to trust Him even more. When God wants to do something new in your life, it requires you to trust Him so that faith can be built. Because indeed it is your faith that produces the miracle right? Someone reading this may be in a completely new circumstance or situation and you are wondering why God keeps saying trust Him. It’s because God wants to increase your faith to activate this new level or miracle He wants to bring you. Instead of allowing doubt to creep in, just surrender and trust Him. Scripture(s) Meditation: ““Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, And whose hope is the Lord. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit.” ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭17‬:‭7‬-‭8‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ Reflection Question(s): We invite you to discuss below. In this new circumstance or situation you may find yourself in, truly ask yourself, do you trust God, frfr? Sun'Ray💕
