- Something HAD to die!
Devotional: Whenever we find ourselves in bleak circumstances, we always want to pray to be delivered. But isn’t it highly possible that if God wants to deliver you from that situation, He would? Could it just be that there’s something He wants to unlock in you that was lying dormant? There were times in my life where I felt God should have delivered me and He didn’t. But it was in those times that I experienced a Lazarus moment. Some things had to die so that I could live. And in the midst of the resurrection those things that lie dormant suddenly sprung to life. What are those things? I prayed more. I took fasting seriously. I learned to praise in the midst of a trial. I learned to seek God with my whole heart. It amazed me how the things I struggled for years to do suddenly became the easiest. And it all it took was for me to go through. I guess what I’m saying is, in all of us something had to die, so that we could live… Scripture(s) Meditation: “Then, when Mary came where Jesus was, and saw Him, she fell down at His feet, saying to Him, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.”” John 11:32 NKJV Reflection Question(s): We invite you to discuss below. What has died in you? In the midst of that death, what new things were resurrected in you? Sun'Ray💕
- The Night Light
Devotional: As a kid I used to love watching horror movies but it made me extremely fearful. I could watch Jason and Freddy with no issue. But when it came to Child’s Play? It was something about Chucky that I couldn’t get past. I remember my family even joking about getting me one of his dolls for Christmas to further taunt me. I don’t know how they thought that was funny, especially when I would’ve placed him in their rooms every night. (So serious) It came to a point where I couldn’t sleep in the dark. So naturally, my mother purchased me this royal blue night light that I used to bring me comfort. Without the light, I didn’t feel safe. However, once plugged in, I knew everything would be just fine. In our faith walk with God, there are some dark places that God will cause us to walk through. Sometimes we complain and get frustrated, but it’s in those dark places that greatness is birthed. Instead of trying to get out, look at what the Lord has provided to help you walk through. The Night Light is the Word of God. His Words are a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. That even when we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, we can be confident that God is right there with us. Wherever your dark place is in life right now, know that God is right there with you. He doesn’t want you to give up, but to instead continue trusting Him. Scripture(s) Meditation: “Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.” Psalms 119:105 NKJV “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.” Psalms 23:4 NKJV Reflection Question(s): We invite you to discuss below. What has been your darkest moment in life thus far? How did The Night Light help you get through? Sun'Ray💕
- The Relaxer
Devotional: Every six-eight weeks growing up, I remember getting a fresh relaxer. The week before I would spend time preparing with low maintenance hairstyles just to minimize the chances of it burning during application. For those of you who don’t know, a relaxer is a chemical process done to curly hair to straighten/relax the hair strands. My hair was so long and thick growing up, this was the only way my mother could maintain it. One day, the Holy Spirit began to reveal something to me about this process. I pray that it helps you as you go through the process God has you in this season. Once the relaxer is applied to the hair, the stylist goes to do something else while the client just sits and waits. As you notice, while the process is going on, there’s no additional work required by the client, in this case you. All you have to do is sit back and relax allowing the relaxer to do it’s job. So where is the “power” of the relaxer? It’s in the relaxer itself! When God places us in a process, know that He is the relaxer and He is the one that holds all the power. The more you resist the process (scratch your head, cause twists and strands), the more burning/damage you experience. (Ask any black woman about this, you DON’T want to scratch your head during this process lol) But if you “relax” by dwelling in the house (sanctuary) of the Lord and trust that He is in control and will make every crooked path straight (curly to straight hair strands), then everything will turn out fine. So what is The Holy Spirit wanting you to know today? To trust in the Lord and to allow Him to be in control. Don’t resist your process but learn to “relax”/rest in Him, so that what He is seeking to accomplish in you gets completed. The more you try and resist the more you only end up harming yourself. Remember that the power of the relaxer, is in the relaxer itself. Relax in God and everything will be just fine. Scripture(s) Meditation: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;” Proverbs 3:5 NKJV “‘I will go before you And make the crooked places straight; I will break in pieces the gates of bronze And cut the bars of iron.” Isaiah 45:2 NKJV “The Lord will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever; Do not forsake the works of Your hands.” Psalms 138:8 NKJV Reflection Question(s): We invite you to discuss below. What are a few ways that God has revealed to you that help you rest in Him? Sun'Ray💕
- You are a SHINING Star!
Devotional: Have you ever tried lighting a candle in a well-lit room? Are you able to see it’s brightness or is it overpowered by the artificial lighting in the room? If you are like most people you’d definitely agree with the latter statement over the former. The artificial lighting would overpower the authentic glow of the candle. When you look up the definition for the word artificial it says ,”made or produced by human beings, a copy of something natural or insincere.” There are some people in life that float towards those rooms full of artificial lighting. Instead of walking in their authenticity, they abandon it for something that’s popular or well accepted. What this creates is something that’s insincere and far from true. This artificial lighting is really an imitation of the light of Christ. Though it may shine extremely bright, what’s it’s source? If it’s not Christ, then it’s something powered by the Kingdom of Darkness. But those who carry the light of Christ, carry this warm flame that can remain lit, even when the “power” goes out. In life, you may feel that no one sees or appreciates your authenticity, but know your realness comes with a warmth. Your realness, shines in the darkness. Your realness, makes you a unique creation of the Most High King. One word of advice, don’t worry about the brightness of the artificial things in life, cause when the lights are off, only those connected to the true source will continue to shine… Scripture(s)/Song Meditation: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16 NKJV Be A Star by Tyra Banks from the Movie Lifesize Reflection Question(s): We invite you to discuss below. How has saying yes to God allowed your uniqueness to shine even brighter? Sun'Ray💕
- “High Stakes” Season
Devotional: High Stakes deals with gambling. When there is a high risk associated with the gamble, it's called high stakes. Though we have entered a new season, too many of you don't understand the risk associated with it. And because of this ignorance, there's a propensity towards keeping old habits in new spaces. But it's time I remind you that you have too much to lose! Sis, what did you have to go through to get into this new season? Let me say this again, what did God have you go through to make it to this new season? Did you have to leave some friends and family behind? Spend many nights and moments in isolation? Did you find yourself crying out many times to God? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you my love are in a high stakes season. If you don't recognize the cost associated with the oil that was pressed from your toiling, you will pour it in all the wrong places/people. Am I making sense here? You have TOO MUCH TO LOSE! You can't just be out here casting your pearl before swine! It's time you remove yourself fully from the circles, habits and places that no longer serve you. It's time you renew your mind and recognize just how worthy you are. It's time you let your peace return to you. It's time you stop gambling yourself and your purpose away. Understood? Make sure you listen to today’s message that goes with this devotional! Scripture(s) Meditation: ”No Longer Serves You“ | Healing UNPLUGGED Season One Reflection Question(s): We invite you to discuss below. What/who are you letting go of in this season? Is it what God has told you to do? Or is this something you feel will be a good transition for yourself? Sun'Ray💕
- The world didn’t give it…
Devotional: Is the glass half empty or half full? Those who view situations from a lack mindset would instantly state how the glass was half full. They’d probably even take it a step further and complain how they don’t have enough to even fill it up. Then there are those who see things from an abundant perspective. These people would state the cup is half full and though they don’t know how it will become full, that they trust that it would. Not by some extraordinary means, but in their eyes, if the cup got to be half full, it can also become overflowing too. Today, I want to challenge you. Which mindset are you operating from currently, honestly? When God speaks a Word concerning your situation, do you see things as half full or half empty? I think at times we become so focused on what we don’t have and even those things that the world has taken away from us. That we allow ourselves to be discouraged and reduced down to nothing. BUT, you have something at your disposal that the world didn’t give. Instead of spending your time focused on what was taken, have you ever looked at what the circumstances of life can’t take away from you? I’m speaking about those things that are the fruit of the spirit. That joy, that love, that peace and so forth. I can’t live your life for you, but I can tell you, those that view the cup as half full are living more fulfilling lives than those that see it as half empty. Funny thing is, they both are looking at the same cup! Which one will you be? Song Meditation: Still Have Joy - Tye Tribbett Reflection Question(s): We invite you to discuss below. What has God given you that the world can’t take away? Sun'Ray💕
- Stop Resisting
Devotional: It’s natural human emotion to resist the things we don’t like. If you don’t like your work environment, you try your hardest to find a new job. If you don’t like your relationship, at times you will just exit stage left and find a new one. But in this life, there are certain situations and circumstances God places us in purposefully. Instead of wanting to immediately change the circumstances to fit what you desire, maybe you should take a second to see things from God’s perspective. From His view, you aren’t resisting the situation or circumstance but in actuality, His process for you. One thing about the processes of God are that they are unavoidable. If you miss the lesson for the process in one place, God will put you in another situation similar to it. “Repeat the lesson, until you learn the lesson.” Got it? So instead of resisting the process, learn to submit. Your prayers are full of requests to get out, but what if you shift to asking God how to get through? Or maybe what new skills and strategies you can develop to weather the “storm”? Either way it goes, you gain more by surrendering to the process versus attempting to avoid it. Scripture(s) Meditation: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV Reflection Question(s): We invite you to discuss below. First, we want you to identify your process. Then instead of asking God when will things change, ask Him what is required of you to get through it. Do you trust that God’s guidance through this process is better than leaning on your own? We would love if you shared your revelations below. Sun’Ray 💕
- Why God reveals enemies?
Devotional: God will always reveal your enemies. Not just because He wants you to know who was against you, but who really has been against Him. Maybe these people (insecurities) smile in your face but throw knives in your back and you don't even know. Maybe you've removed these people from your life but don't understand why. Today, you'll learn God's sole purpose for why He reveals your enemies. In our scripture meditation below, there were people that stood firm against Jeremiah and his prophecies. They went as far as threatening him to not prophesy in the name of the Lord. They were doing this as a scare tactic to somehow convince Jeremiah he heard wrong and to stop doing the Lord's work. As you can see, Jeremiah knew nothing about this plot, but GOD did. So why did God reveal Jeremiah's enemies? God was preparing to attack them. So what does that mean for you? When God begins revealing your enemies, that's because your elevation is near. There can't be an elevation without any opposition. But before God smites your enemies, He reveals them to show how He has been protecting you and will vindicate you. You shall be above the reproach of your enemies! Scripture(s) Meditation: “Now the Lord gave me knowledge of it, and I know it; for You showed me their doings. But I was like a docile lamb brought to the slaughter; and I did not know that they had devised schemes against me, saying, “Let us destroy the tree with its fruit, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be remembered no more.” But, O Lord of hosts, You who judge righteously, Testing the mind and the heart, Let me see Your vengeance on them, For to You I have revealed my cause.” Jeremiah 11:18-20 NKJV Reflection Question(s): We invite you to discuss below. When God revealed your enemies to you, what happened? Did you experience an elevation? Were you promoted? Sun'Ray💕
- Bold, Authoritative Faith
Devotional: I’m sure you have heard this saying before, “When you pray, make sure you approach the throne of grace boldly and with authority.” (Hebrews 4:16) Have you ever wondered where exactly that “authority and boldness” comes from? When you look at the woman that suffered with the issue of blood for twelve years, you encounter this “boldness and authority.” (Mark 5:25-34) She walked up to Jesus touching the hem of His garment just knowing that she would receive healing. Was this pride? No! It was the faith she developed in Jesus simply by hearing about him! (Romans 10:17) At times, life can literally take the life out of things. In other words, “life be ”lifing””, okay? But you aren’t like others that are of this world. You are distinct breed, a child of God. One of in which has a power that’s greater than He that is within the world. Instead of accepting situations at face value, why not use your faith to experience a different outcome? Had this woman allowed the many doctors and what others spoke about her to blind her faith, she never would’ve received her healing. In the face of so many no’s she was able to still believe in a yes. That yes being the promises of God and the power of Christ. So what does that mean for you? In the face of so many no’s you should still believe in the one that holds your yes... Scripture(s) Meditation: “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:16 NKJV “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17 NKJV Reflection Question(s): We invite you to discuss below. In your life, what circumstances are you currently facing that requires you to boldly lean on the promises of God? What are the distractions keeping you from standing firm in your faith? Sun'Ray💕
- What Love Is
Devotional: If there’s one word that’s thrown around a lot, love would be it. From a very young age, we are cultivated to believe that affection displays love. However, the older we get, we understand that love is about action/choice and not affection. Each day, we have to choose to love those who would probably never love us. Doesn’t the Word say, above all, love one another deeply, because love covers a multitude of sins? (1 Peter 4:8) As I explored the depths of 1 Corinthians 13, I began to notice this direct relationship between love and the fruits of the Spirit. The things that are love, are also the fruits of the Spirit. Which means, that the root to developing and growing the fruits of the Spirit begins with love. Don’t believe me? Look below. A Comparison of Love & The Fruits of the Spirit (Table): Do you see the similarities? When you are full of the Love of God, you shall bare evidence of the fruit(s) of the Spirit. Scripture(s) Meditation: “Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” I Corinthians 13:4-7 NKJV “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23 NKJV Reflection Question(s): We invite you to discuss below. What areas of your life are full of God’s love? Which fruits of the Spirit do you possess? Which has been the hardest to grow? Sun'Ray💕
- The Word Tests
Devotional: Isn’t it a joyous feeling when you watch/receive a prophetic word that resonates with your Spirit? But my question to you is, what do you do when the door to the furnace of God opens up? When that very word begins to test you, are you holding on to the promise in the fire or do you instantly give up? In Psalm 105:19, it speaks of the word of God trying Joseph until it came to pass. If there's one thing you've learned about Joseph, he went through so much to fulfill the promise of God. It took betrayal, disappointment, imprisonment and abandonment to get him to where God needed him to be. He even experienced people lying on his name! Don't you know that God's word can test you in the same way? As displeasing as this can be, it's the truth. Today, I want to free you from the way you’re perceiving your current circumstances. Most of what we go through is a result of what’s been spoken over us. In order for a prophecy to come to pass, many will agree that the opposite occurs first. So instead of despising your trials, see them as a test preparing you for the fulfillment of God’s promises in your life. Scripture(s) Meditation: “Until the time that his word came to pass, The word of the Lord tested him.” Psalms 105:19 NKJV Reflection Question(s): We invite you to discuss below. When you look at your life currently, in what area(s) do you find yourself being tested the most? Why do you believe you are more focused on the test and not the purpose of the test? Sun'Ray💕
- Waiting on the promise(s)…
Devotional: Y’all know I love to be real, and this devotional will be a full moment of transparency. One day, I had enough. I felt like I had been waiting on God to fulfill these promises in my life long enough. Had it just been me waiting, it wouldn’t have been an issue. But the more I wanted to forget about them or place them in the back of my mind, the more the reminders came. At this point I am sitting with God saying how can I wait patiently when you continue to bring it up? In my eyes, out of sight out of mind right? But that couldn’t work when every time I closed my eyes, or turned my head there was The Holy Spirit nudging me to remember. So after finally having enough, I simply asked, “what am I supposed to do with this? How am I supposed to wait?” The Holy Spirit simply replied, “praise.” Instantly I remembered the power of holding a posture of praise. In the previous seasons where I would dwell in my irritation and at times mumble and complain, I couldn’t do that here. In this season, I have matured spiritually and was expected to act like it. God wasn’t reminding me to torment me, but to give me something to praise Him about. So though in the physical I couldn’t see things changing or shifting, in the Spirit realm it wasn’t the same story. Things had changed and God did shift everything into my favor. To bring these things forth, I needed to remain in a posture of praise. So to you, that person wondering how to wait? Wait in a posture of praise, it’s already a finished work and the promises are already yours… Scripture(s) Meditation: “Though the fig tree may not blossom, Nor fruit be on the vines; Though the labor of the olive may fail, And the fields yield no food; Though the flock may be cut off from the fold, And there be no herd in the stalls— Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.” Habakkuk 3:17-18 NKJV Reflection Question(s): We invite you to discuss below. How are you going to shift your mindset from waiting anxiously to waiting in a posture of praise? What keeps you in that anxious/worried state? Sun'Ray💕
