- Deception will arise
Devotional: What’s the difference between the counterfeit and the real thing? Simply, the ability to recognize the difference between the two. Without proper discernment and heavenly guidance in ALL of life’s situations, you could abort your destiny. In this hour, deception is high, but what are you doing to prevent yourself from being captured in the enemies’ snare? Quite honestly, it’s interesting how we never understand the true worthiness behind hearing God’s voice, until we are knee-deep in disaster. Why must it take for us to go off path, to finally seek the voice of our shepherd? It makes me think of how much of His voice is sounded out by our worldly desires. How much greater would our lives be, if we seek the Lord ahead of the issue? Instead of stumbling around in the dark, God’s wisdom will bring us the light we need to swerve left or right onto His cleared path. This way, we live life with ease and lessen the chance of damage or dis-ease. So here’s the fix: Desire the voice of God just as much as you desire the hand of God. Scripture(s) Meditation: "My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand." John 10:27-28 NIV "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you." Psalm 32:8 NIV "Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”" Isaiah 30:21 NIV "She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her; those who hold her fast will be blessed. By wisdom the Lord laid the earth’s foundations, by understanding he set the heavens in place." - God, why me?
Devotional: If many of us were to spend time examining our past, we’d see some things we would rather forget. The times we completely ignored the Word of God. The times we used our words to break someone down. And even the times we turned our back on those who may have needed us the most. The truth is, each of us have done things that have left streaks on our “perfect” records. At times, some of us have spent ample time trying to erase the mistakes of the past. Not realizing, only present action, can change the course of our future. But this isn’t the focus today. The focus is, why does God choose us imperfect beings to accomplish His perfect plans on Earth? Why does He continue to stretch out His hand to us, when we turn away? And why does He concern Himself with the most intimate details of our being? It’s His love. A love so pure, so unadulterated and full of divine goodness. A love that sees past every flaw and covers them with grace. So the next time you ask God why me? Remember that it’s His everlasting love for you and for the greater purpose that reaches beyond you. Scripture(s) Meditation: “The Lord appeared to me (Israel) from ages past, saying, “I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you and continued My faithfulness to you.” Jeremiah 31:3 AMP Song(s) Meditation: Why by Jonathan McReynolds feat. Corey Barksdale To listen to today's song meditation, click here. Reflection Question(s): We invite you to discuss below. What are some of the streaks on your less than perfect record? How has God’s Grace covered your flaws? How has God’s love encouraged you to live on fire for Him? Sun'Ray💕
- Not my concern
Devotional: Do I have any over thinkers out there? Where you find yourself using your thoughts as a way to cope? For years, I dealt with crippling anxiety. I'd spend hours in my thoughts trying to reason with the why's and how's of life. Upon coming into Christ, you'd think things would get better. Unfortunately the submission and trust aspect of the faith, gave me more things to worry about. It transitioned from the why's and how's, to the how's and when's. Can anybody else relate? When we study the Psalms, we can learn a lot from David. One thing he reveals to us through Psalm 131, is the pride that lies behind our overthinking. When he found himself facing a God-sized issue in his life, he left it up to God. He trusted in God and leaned on Him, as a child does its' mother. When we spend ample time in our thoughts trying to figure out the how, when and why of God sized situations, we are operating in pride. We are telling God, that we know best. Now, I know that isn't your intention, but this is what your heart is spiritually communicating to the Father. He doesn't tell us to trust Him and have faith because it sounds good. He does it so we can remain secure, and use our thoughts more productively in building His Kingdom. It's time for you to respond "it's not my concern," to the God-sized issues in your life. Scripture(s) Meditation: "Lord, my heart is not haughty, Nor my eyes lofty. Neither do I concern myself with great matters, Nor with things too profound for me. Surely I have calmed and quieted my soul, Like a weaned child with his mother; Like a weaned child is my soul within me." Psalm 131:1-2 NKJV "“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord." Isaiah 55:8 NKJV "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;" Proverbs 3:5 NKJV Reflection Question(s): We invite you to discuss below. Spend some time today in a place of repentance. Acknowledge those God-sized situations in your life that keeps you from using your mind for Kingdom work. Take on the posture of a child that weans on their mother, and trust God to do what only He can do. Sun'Ray💕
- In the dark
Devotional: Some seasons, it feels as though you are completely surrounded by darkness. As you try and peer through it, you aren't able to see a thing. And quite honestly, it's at this point, that many believers decide to give up. Without a clear path ahead, they feel lost, alone and confused. Can any of you relate? Truth be told, being planted, feels as if you're being buried. You are pulled away from what you knew, into a place you've never known. The certainty you once had, is stripped away, as the Lord requires you to now lean fully on Him. In this place, it's easy to feel lonely and as if nothing is happening. But it's in the dark that the roots grow. It's in the dark, that the Lord's presence is with you. It's in the dark where His rod and His staff comfort you. It's in the dark where you learn to trust Him. And, it's in that dark and cold place, where you develop the strength to stand and bear fruit. So though it's dark, cold and hard to see. Trust and believe, that in the dark, you are becoming all that God has created you to be. Scripture(s) Meditation: "And you who are left in Judah, who have escaped the ravages of the siege, will put roots down in your own soil and grow up and flourish." - Growth of Fruits
Devotional: Scripture reveals in Galatians 5:22, that there are nine fruits of the Holy Spirit. There's love, joy, peace, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance and lastly, long-suffering. Though each takes its' own time to grow in our lives, long-suffering is the fruit that takes the longest. This is the fruit, that has to be developed under immense pressure. Oftentimes, many believers would call it torture. When we look at the life of Joseph, his ability to long-suffer is commendable. From the pit, to Potiphar's house and then to the prison, this fruit was in development. While in the pit, would he wallow in anger and self-defeat? While at Potiphar's house, would he allow the yoke bound to his neck, to keep him from operating in excellence? While at the prison, would he allow his shackles to keep him from helping those in need of his gifts? Though he encountered some great and fiery trials, it was those trials that brought forth the very fruit that restored his family. Without those moments of extreme sacrifice being met with a polished character, Joseph couldn't give the fruit of patience to his brothers when re-united. He didn't allow the process to stunt his growth, instead he allowed the process to expand him. Many of you, are in fiery situations. It's all too easy for you to give into the frustration of it all. But will you withstand the pressure, to allow yourself to expand? Will you withstand the pressure, to produce the fruit of patience? It's something to think about... Scripture(s) Meditation: "Until the time that his word [of prophecy regarding his brothers] came true, The word of the Lord tested and refined him." Psalm 105:19 AMP "But the fruit of the Spirit [the result of His presence within us] is love [unselfish concern for others], joy, [inner] peace, patience [not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting], kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law." Galatians 5:22-23 AMP Song(s) Meditation: Live through it by James Fortune & FIYA To listen to today's song meditation, click here. Reflection Question(s): We invite you to discuss below. How has the Lord developed the fruit of long-suffering/patience in your life? How has the growth you encountered in the process, shifted how you've waited? Sun'Ray💕
- Wells of Life
Devotional: Normally when thirsty, you reach for the very thing that can quench your thirst. But when you find yourself lost in the spiritual seas, what do you reach for? Out of desperation, many of us would begin to drink the saltwater that is in great quantity around us. Only sinking deeper into a dehydrated pit of despair. When one finds themselves in this position, you must begin to look inward. Though the Samaritan woman met with Jesus at a physical well, this metaphorically represented the chambers of her heart. Deep inside, her soul was crying out for more. But in ignorance, she kept going back to what she knew. Not knowing, that with one simple request, every void that caused her to lay in the bed of many men would be filled. You see, Christ lives within you. He is seated within the innermost chambers of your heart. And though you may be surrounded by the things of this world that seek to drain your life. You have an internal well of life, that can keep you satiated. An internal place that will provide you with more than enough. But will you cry out for the water, that will forever fulfill your needs? Scripture(s) Meditation: "Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” John 4:13-14 NIV Song(s) Meditation: Love Sick by Chandler Moore feat Siri Worku To listen to today's song meditation, click here. Reflection Question(s): We invite you to discuss below. What are you reaching for in your external environment to fulfill your soul's cry? What keeps you returning to the thing that drains you? How can you begin to look inward? Sun'Ray💕
- Mountain of Sacrifice
Devotional: Every great promotion begins with a major sacrifice. When God calls you out, will you allow your heart to be tested and refined by His holy fire? Will you lay down your life, for His glory to reign? Will you leave behind what you desire most? When the Lord instructed Abraham to sacrifice the promised son, he didn't hesitate. He arose in the early hours of the morning, to do as God willed. The urgency behind his actions revealed something greater about the nature of Abraham's heart towards God. That his faithfulness, wasn't in the promise. But his faithfulness, rested in his love for God. Before a great promotion, the Lord seeks to reveal the true motives of your heart. And scripturally speaking, this is only done through periods of great testing and sacrifice. You see, a mountain metaphorically represents a place of dominion and authority. And before anyone can stand on the top of the mountain, what must they do first? Yes, climb it. And truth be told, climbing a mountain isn't easy. It's full of jagged rocks and unleveled terrain. Not to mention, the incline can cause great stress on the body. Yet, the views at the top are so extremely breathtaking, that you forget the pain you endured along the way. When we look at Abraham, we see this in full effect. It was painful to sacrifice the one son that he prayed for. Yet, he climbed the mountain of sacrifice and did it. In turn, not only did he receive great provision, but he also received a greater blessing because of it. A blessing we all now take part in. Will you climb the mountain of sacrifice to receive all that God has for you? Scripture(s) Meditation: "Then He said, “Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.”" Genesis 22:2 NKJV "And you shall remember [always] all the ways which the Lord your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, so that He might humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart (mind), whether you would keep His commandments or not." Deuteronomy 8:2 AMP Song(s) Meditation: Just want you by Travis Greene To listen to today's song meditation, click here. Reflection Question(s): We invite you to discuss below. What has/does your mountain of sacrifice look like? What lessons have you learned as you've traveled the unleveled terrain? How has your faith grown because of it? What has God revealed about the posture of your heart before Him? Sun'Ray💕
- Don't rush, take it in...
Devotional: The world has us fooled into thinking, that being a busybody is a good thing. However, those who are spiritually intelligent, understand busy-ness as the breeding ground for Satan’s operations. The more noisy a soul, the more chaos and thus, the more confusion. Often in the Bible, we see God speaking the loudest when things are silent. Though we’d see this silence in their external environment, there’s a deeper understanding to catch. True silence comes from within. And the only way to still your soul before the Lord, is to slow down and silence the noise. It’s easy to speed through the trail of life and not take notice of anything. But for some of you, it’s time to slow down and take in the views. As you do so, you’ll notice that God’s voice speaks louder than you think… Scripture(s) Meditation: "For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints." 1 Corinthians 14:33 KJV "My soul, be quiet before God, for from him comes my hope." Psalm 62:5 ISV Song(s) Meditation: Not in a hurry by Will Reagan To listen to today's song meditation, click here. Reflection Question(s): We invite you to discuss below. What keeps you so busy? How has “being busy” hindered the growth of your relationship with God? What will you do, to change the pace? Sun'Ray💕
- The tides of life
Devotional: There are circumstances in life that will hit you like a high tide. Instead of receiving a warning, you are unexpectedly hit with one problem after the next. And in the midst of it all, you are forced to re-gain footing as it all passes. When you’re in this place, what do you do? For some, they get swept away with the tide and never return. But then there are others, who understand the nature of God. That when the enemy comes in like a flood, God raises up a standard. And instead of striving to save themselves, they just get low. For they understand, that a low posture before God signifies humility. And it is the cry of the humble that pierces the ear of God. It causes Him to incline towards the cry and reach out His hand to bring forth deliverance. For those experiencing a high tide type of season, I have one piece of advice for you: “When the tides of life get high, go low into Gods presence and you’ll resurface stronger and wiser.” Scripture(s) Meditation: "So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him." Isaiah 59:19 KJV "I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry." Psalm 40:1 KJV Song(s) Meditation: Still Able by James Fortune & FIYA To listen to today's song meditation, click here. Reflection Question(s): We invite you to discuss below. Have you ever experienced a high tide type of season? What was/is that experience like for you? How are you, getting “low” to receive God’s deliverance? Sun'Ray💕
- The Answered Prayer
Devotional: When we approach God, we must realize where we are and who He is! I remember as a kid going into people’s houses and the elder saying, “you’re supposed to speak when you walk into someone’s house.” Meaning, there’s a level of honor you must have for those above you. How much greater honor should we show God, when we pray?! During times of need, it's easy to skip protocol and jump right to the part where you ask God to supply your needs. But when Jesus instructed His disciples on how to pray, He gave them the model of prayer, purposefully. (Matthew 6:9-13) He revealed the pathway of honor to God's throne, and how to receive answered prayer requests. Many of us have fallen into prayerless-ness, because it seems that prayer doesn't work. But when your wi-fi suddenly goes out, you just go and check the connection right? Why's that? Because you know that you paid the bill and there's power there. It's the same way with prayer. Jesus paid the bill, and there's plenty power in God. Therefore, the issue must lie within your connection... A Tool for Effective Prayer: (Having set times to pray, helps tremendously with consistency!!) Follow these in a step-wise manner, and overtime, you will begin to see your prayer life change tremendously. For me, it helps to write prayers down and speak them forth out loud, however, do whatever you are led. Surrender: This is the moment I write down anything that is burdening me. Typically, the very thing I am entering supplication for, is what I will write here. And I don't go to the next step until I actually have laid it down at His feet. (picturing this also helps) Adoration: I then give myself a brief pause and ask the Holy Spirit to remind me of a moment of adoration. To prevent myself from being robotic and saying a whole bunch of words with no true intent behind them (you are good, oh you are great etc), I immerse myself into a memory of God. By doing this, my gaze is now completely focused on Him, as is the purpose of this step of prayer. Confession: I use this moment, to be completely honest and seek forgiveness for myself. As well as repent AND ensure that I open my heart to forgive those who may have offended me. It's written in Psalm 66:18, that when we have a known sin in our heart and won't confess it, God won't hear it! Also in Mark 11:24-25, that we should forgive, so that our prayers won't be hindered! Without this step, many of our prayers have been in vain. Also, SEEK MERCY! Thanksgiving: We must be thankful! How much more will you do for a person in your life, that is grateful? It is written in 2 Thessalonians 5:18, that we should give thanks in all circumstances! Also it is written in Psalm 100:4, that we enter His gates with thanksgiving. And Philippians 4:6 tells us to present our requests before God with thanksgiving. Therefore, we should always keep a heart of gratitude before Him. Supplication: This is the point at which you present your case before God. Using scriptures help greatly here. It reminds me of a court case, where the lawyers use previous cases to convince the Judge to rule in their favor. It's also a great way to learn scriptures! Intercession: This is the point at which you pray for others. You can switch this with supplication, it's up to you! But the goal here is to give you a format that works and also falls in alignment with The Model Prayer in Matthew 6. When you begin to understand each step has a purpose, you see prayer less as a burden and more as an honor. Scripture(s) Meditation: "As you enter the house of God, keep your ears open and your mouth shut. It is evil to make mindless offerings to God.Don’t make rash promises, and don’t be hasty in bringing matters before God. After all, God is in heaven, and you are here on earth. So let your words be few." Ecclesiastes 5:1-2 NLT "“This, then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one." Matthew 6:9-13 NIV "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7 NIV Song(s) Meditation: When I Pray by DOE To listen to today's song meditation, click here. Reflection Question(s): We invite you to discuss below. Have you ever tried to follow Jesus' prayer? Did it work for you? If not, how do you pray with understanding? (Not speaking of praying in your spiritual language) Sun'Ray💕
- Discipline is Love
Devotional: When you truly love someone, you desire to see them happy. But more than their happiness, you desire to see them better. Meaning, you recognize their flaws and mistakes, but you don't allow them to remain that way. There are some friends you'll have in this world, that will see you headed into destruction and remain silent. Then there are those, who will speak, the moment you veer off-track. On this faith walk, God will constantly bring out His rod of correction. As our shepherd, He has a higher perspective than us. Which allows Him to see the dangers and traps that lie up ahead. And instead of allowing the enemy to sift us like wheat, He disciplines us to bring us back in alignment with His perfect will. At the time, the correction God brings can be very painful. It requires us to self-examine and face some truths, many of us would rather ignore. But in those moments of chastisement and introspection, something much greater happens. We grow. We change. And more importantly, we remain in God's loving care and protection. Regardless of how you feel momentarily, God's discipline is love... Scripture(s) Meditation: "My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline, and do not resent his rebuke, because the Lord disciplines those he loves,as a father the son he delights in." Proverbs 3:11-12 NIV "No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it." Hebrews 12:11 NIV Song(s) Meditation: Psalm 23 by Marvin Sapp To listen to today's song meditation, click here. Reflection Question(s): We invite you to discuss below. - Let your consistency speak
Devotional: The voices we hear in this life, aren’t always audible. There are signs, even actions, that speak louder than words ever can. Whether it’s the neighbor who waters her garden every day or even the friend that faithfully attends church every week. It doesn’t take you hearing words to understand their consistent nature. You see, Daniel was a man with a spirit of excellency and a character of consistency. He would pray three times a day, faithfully. So when his colleagues conspired against him, he didn’t allow the contention to stop him. Instead, he remained faithful and allowed his consistency to speak. His consistency spoke the loudest when his God, showed up for him in the lions den. That one moment, showed the efficacy that comes behind consistency. Because of his continued relationship with God, he was saved from destruction. Now, in your life, you must take note. That when the enemy can’t find “dirt” on you, he will seek to attack your consistency. But instead of giving in to the contention, allow your consistency with God, to speak for you… Scripture(s) Meditation: "Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before." Daniel 6:10 NIV Song(s) Meditation: Keep goin on by Lushun Pace To listen to today's song meditation, click here. Reflection Question(s): We invite you to discuss below. What are you most consistent with, in your relationship with God? How has this consistent behavior helped you? If you struggle with consistency, how will you work to change that? Sun'Ray💕
