  • The Invisible Web

Devotional: A few years ago, while sleeping on my friend’s couch, God gave me a dream. In this dream, I was walking through this junkyard, led by someone I used to know. As I followed them, I was eventually entangled into this large cobweb that I couldn’t see. I could feel the oppression and captivity, but couldn’t see it because I was so focused on the person leading me. When you look at your life, what’s leading you? Better yet, who’s leading you? In this dream, God was revealing the trap the enemy had set for me. He wanted me to follow the leading of my past, instead of following God’s perfect, chosen path. I must mention, this dream came about a month before I left Milwaukee to go to Houston. A month before, I would break the shackles that sought to keep me captive in enemy territory. Right before my breakthrough, the enemy sought to distract me and entangle me in his web. How many of you are currently walking into the invisible webs of the enemy because your past is leading you? It’s time you open your eyes and set your gaze on the “new thing” God is doing in your life this season. Scripture(s) Meditation: “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland." What is the “new thing” that God desires to bring forth in your life, this season? What are the “invisible webs” that the enemy has set? Sun'Ray💕

  • Last Place

Devotional: I won’t lie to you, I’ve spent most of my life in what people would call “last place.” Last to be chosen as a friend. Last to be considered for opportunities and last to be supported by those I loved the most. I was even the last child to be born in both my families. To make up for this placement in life, I compromised parts of myself that I never should have. I began to seek affirmation through my education because quantitatively speaking, I’d always be first. Or come in, as a close second. I found myself constantly grasping for something that was completely out of my reach. No matter what I tried, the burden of being "last" would never leave me. For quite a while, I believed it was something wrong with me. That was until... The Lord showed me numerous moments in the Bible where He used those in last place for something great. Maybe you too share this same sentiment, but I want to affirm that God will use your position as one in last place, also, for something great. Scripture(s) Meditation: “So the last will be first, and the first will be last.” Matthew 20:16 NIV Song(s) Meditation: Last Shall be First by Ella Powell To listen to today's song meditation, click here. Reflection Question(s): We invite you to discuss below. What has being in "last place" done for you spiritually, mentally and emotionally? How will you choose to have a better outlook on this positioning? Sun'Ray💕L

  • Nature is surrender

Devotional: Surrender is a spiritual construct, that has intricately woven and delicate pieces. Each aspect, serves to draw us closer to God. As we surrender, we notice how life can be lived with ease. How life can finally be an experience we breathe through and not suffocate from. One day while praying as walking through the forest, I noticed a tree. This tree wasn’t placed vertically in the ground as the ones in the city. But it appeared to be strategically placed in the ground to grow horizontally. How could something so large in size and heavy in weight, grow against its’ own nature? What its’ placement revealed, is the true nature of surrender. Instead of following the status quo, it surrendered to God’s perfect will. Which in turn, produced a spectacle so unique that it stood out from the rest. I guess, it makes me question, how great of a sight would we be if we fully surrender to God’s plan and leave the path most traveled behind? Scripture(s) Meditation: "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." Romans 12:2 NIV "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11 NIV Song(s) Meditation: Your Way is Better by Marvin Sapp To listen to today's song meditation, click here. Reflection Question(s): We invite you to discuss below. What is something that God wants you to do that goes against the status quo (norm)? Sun'Ray💕

  • Trusting God in Uncertainty

Devotional: Uncertainty is like the rotted wooden steps on a condemned home. Though they may appear normal, in reality they can’t support our weight. As soon as we take our first step, they instantly crumble. Causing us to crumble right along with them. On this walk of faith, there are many uncertain situations we’ll face. And it’s easy to momentarily root our faith in what we can or even expect to see. But the basis of our faith, should be in God alone. We must learn to not trust our situations, for they are only rotten stairs. Things that appear one way, but in reality leads our faith to crumble. Instead of putting so much emphasis on the outcome of our situations, let us remember who’s in control of it. Because, even though our situation may be uncertain, God’s plan concerning us isn’t. Remember, lean not on your own understanding. Instead, trust God. Scripture(s) Meditation: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV "But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him." Jeremiah 17:7 NIV Song(s) Meditation: I trust you by James Fortune & FIYA To listen to today's song meditation, click here. Reflection Question(s): We invite you to discuss below. Be honest with yourself, what situation causes your faith to crumble? How can you use the wisdom from today’s devotional, to help you be more dependent on God in such uncertain circumstances? • You must stretch

Devotional: When God begins to stretch you spiritually, it can be quite uncomfortable at first. Amongst all the other pressures of life, it seems like another burden added onto your shoulders. But as you surrender to God’s instruction, you notice that your capacity has nearly doubled. In Isaiah 48:5, it says that God announces His plans in advance. It is through these announcements, that God prepares you for what’s to come. He can announce His plans directly, or He can use His instructions to hint at them. By God instructing you to stretch, He’s revealing that something great is en route to you. Don’t get so lost in the stretching that you miss what that stretching is preparing you for. No matter how uncomfortable it can get, you must trust that He is preparing you for greater. Scripture(s) Meditation: “Enlarge your house; build an addition. Spread out your home, and spare no expense! For you will soon be bursting at the seams. Your descendants will occupy other nations and resettle the ruined cities.” Isaiah 54:2-3 NLT Song(s) Meditation: Comfort Zone by Marvin Sapp To listen to today's song meditation, click here. Reflection Question(s): We invite you to discuss below. What is “the stretching” preparing you to receive? Sun'Ray 💕

  • An Honest Confession

Devotional: There’s something about sin, that causes us to hide. At times, we closely guard our sins as much as we guard our best friend’s secrets. It’s almost better to keep our struggles hidden than to be open about them. For we know that a secret revealed to the wrong person, can cause unnecessary pain. But what about in our relationship with God? You see, intimacy is a beautiful thing. However, if we aren’t careful, we begin to lead with dangerous assumptions. That just because a person knows us, they can tell what we are struggling with. But how many of our relationships have ended due to that simple communication error? Yes, it’s true. God has a vast knowledge of you, but He also says, there is power in our confession. How many of you are deep in intimacy with God, but refuse to confess those sins that you have hidden from others? Through your honest confession, you express the true vulnerable nature of your soul. And what Father can ignore the deepest cries of their child? Scripture(s) Meditation: “If I had not confessed the sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened. But God did listen! He paid attention to my prayer." Isaiah 66:18-19 NLT Song(s) Meditation: Me Again by J. Moss To listen to today's song meditation, click here. Reflection Question(s): We invite you to discuss below. Go into prayer and begin to stand on 1 John 1:9 and Psalm 66:18-19 as you confess the known sins hidden deep in your heart. Write this prayer down and notice how quick things begin to move for you. And whenever you pray, make sure you always do this so He always hears you. Sun'Ray💕

  • The Spiritual Plateau

Devotional: As someone born in the Fall season, I have always enjoyed the cozy nature of it. Especially those moments, where I spend my evenings reading my favorite book under the warmest blanket. Deep inside, I never want this feeling to end. But in such comfort, where is there room to grow? There comes a time in our spiritual lives, where it gets cozy. The time we spend in prayer is as warm as our favorite blanket. The time we worship, is as soothing as the fall breeze. And the time we spend in the Word, is like reading our favorite book until we fall asleep. Any mention of changing this routine, is a threat to our peace. But what happens when this is no longer enough? When suddenly, there’s this cry from deep within that causes great discomfort as you pray. As you worship. And, as you read the Word? It’s as if, your current routine can no longer sustain you. Each second, you can feel your flesh getting stronger and stronger. This, is the spiritual plateau. A place that you should visit but never remain. Without growth in the Spirit, your flesh gets stronger and you regress into old habits and patterns. What’s comfortable becomes the very thing that stagnates you. Truth is, you are a new creation. Meaning, as you develop, you need more and more of God to sustain you. Never get so comfortable where you are, that you forget to keep climbing… Scripture(s) Meditation: "For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ." 2 Peter 1:5-8 NIV "Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life." Galatians 6:8 NIV "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" 2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV Song(s) Meditation: More of you by Fred Hammond To listen to today's song meditation, click here. Reflection Question(s): We invite you to discuss below. Do you feel like you’ve hit a spiritual plateau (a point where you’re stagnant/no growth)? If so, what caused you to get there? If not, what has helped you to keep growing? In general, how will you continue to stretch yourself spiritually on this journey? Sun'Ray💕

  • The Winds of Change

Devotional: Sometimes in life, it feels as if you’re in a desert. Where everything around you, is dry and lifeless. Whatever you put your hands to, seems to crumble beneath the weight of your fingers. At which point, it’s easy to hide underneath the broom tree and give up. But at any instant, the winds of God can sweep across your desert and cause massive change. Where there is death, His winds bring life. Where there is oppression, His winds brings forth deliverance. And where there’s delay, His winds bring forth acceleration. No matter the situation, The Ruach of God has the power to make what seems impossible, possible. Today, I want to speak to the soul that’s been in a dry place. I know that things have been hard and it seems as if nothing will ever change. But, I come to remind you today, that, there is a hidden creative power in the words you speak. In this hour you must call forth the winds of change. And as you decree God’s Word from your lips, it shall be heard in Heaven and established here on Earth. May every dry bone, live… Scripture(s) Meditation: "Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to it, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Come, breath, from the four winds and breathe into these slain, that they may live.’” So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet—a vast army." Ezekiel 37:9-10 NIV "Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the Lord drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land. The waters were divided," Exodus 14:21 NIV "Meanwhile, the sky grew black with clouds, the wind rose, a heavy rain started falling and Ahab rode off to Jezreel. The power of the Lord came on Elijah and, tucking his cloak into his belt, he ran ahead of Ahab all the way to Jezreel." 1 Kings 18:45-46 NIV "You will also declare a thing, And it will be established for you; So light will shine on your ways." What are some “dead” areas in your life? Take the time today, to write out a decree that calls forth the winds of change in those areas. Be sure, you speak forth this declaration often. Sun'Ray💕

  • The Pressure is Purposeful

Devotional: If we analyze the laws of nature, we can see the beautiful creations made from this thing we call pressure. The diamonds that grace our skin, the children that bring joy into our lives and even the olive oil we use to accentuate our beauty. Because pressure causes great discomfort, our natural human instinct is to escape it. But what beauty are we missing out on, when we choose to avoid it? What blessing now escapes from our grasp? What parts of us won’t evolve? Whenever we look in the Bible, we are able to see different aspects of God’s character. One thing that has remained since the beginning of time, is that He purposes high pressure scenarios for our good. We witnessed this at the parting of the Red Sea, in the fiery furnace with the three Hebrew boys and even in the lions den with Daniel. In the moment, pressure made everything appear to be over. But as with everything, God always gets the final say. For the Israelites, the pressure led to their deliverance. For the three Hebrew boys, promotion. For Daniel, great recognition. What is God’s pressure producing for you? Scripture(s) Meditation: "We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed." 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 NIV Song(s) Meditation: Greater is Coming by Jekayln Carr To listen to today's song meditation, click here. • Variable Strength

Devotional: Some of the hardest battles I’ve faced, have come at a time when I’m already in distress. As if it’s not enough, that I’ve grown weary from the warfare I’ve been facing. In those moments, it has always been easy for me to retreat from the battle and cower in the corner. But, it is in those moments of extreme weariness that the Lord gives our strength variability. To be variable means to be adaptable. Meaning no matter what you face, you’re able to alter your response and destroy your target. Physiologically, our bodies have two branches of defense when it comes to our immune system. The innate and the adaptive. If we were left to just the innate branch, we’d die when pathogens mutate. But because of this adaptability, we can remain protected against the most foreign of substances. Some of you, want to go and cower in the corner like I have. But, as you persevere through the trial, the Lord is giving you an adaptive strength. Where you’ll have the spiritual intelligence to destroy any enemy that opposes you. Scripture(s) Meditation: "If you are slack (careless) in the day of distress,Your strength is limited." Proverbs 24:10 AMP Song(s) Meditation: I Can't Give Up by Lee Williams and the Spiritual QC's To listen to today's song meditation, click here. Reflection Question(s): We invite you to discuss below. When you think of the term “variable strength” what does this mean to you? How can developing it, benefit you? Sun'Ray💕

  • Unplug

Devotional: There was nothing more brutal than the Milwaukee summers of my youth. It could be the hottest day outside, but my mom refused to turn the AC past 72 degrees. This meant I’d sweat profusely in the upstairs hotbox, that I once called my room. The only bit of relief I had, came from this very old rotation desk fan. Its only downfall, was that it overheated quite often and needed to be unplugged regularly. Right now, many of you find yourselves in the same position as that old fan. No matter the circumstance or situation you face, you’ve been forced to keep turning your tired blades. Deep down, you don’t know how much longer your motor can withstand the pressure. When you find yourself here, what can you do? You must unplug. By choosing to unplug, you choose to help yourself. You can only give out, that which you have been given. And when you need to be replenished, it must happen in God’s presence with no plugs attached. Remember, even Jesus withdrew… Scripture(s) Meditation: "But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed." Luke 5:16 NIV Song(s) Meditation: In the Garden by Marvin Sapp To listen to today's song meditation, click here. Reflection Question(s): We invite you to discuss below. What are some demands that have been entirely too much for you to carry? How will you make time for yourself to unplug? Sun'Ray💕

  • Your thought life

Devotional: According to research, humans have on average more than 6,000 thoughts per day. As believers, our thought lives are very important to the paths we lead and the plans we establish. Scripture tells us that as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he. Therefore, a thought is not just a thought. A thought is the delicately crafted plan that precedes an action. But what happens when our thoughts are constantly out of alignment with God's will? Slowly but surely, we begin to turn the once straightened path into a crooked one. Where there once was clarity, confusion soon begins to emerge. And purposeful works eventually become purpose-less. Before we know it, we are in a place we never thought we'd be. Without the proper checks and balances in place, a simple thought becomes the root basis of a downward spiraling spiritual life. Though our spirits are new, our souls are the ones that hold the patterns and habits of the old. No matter how far along this journey we find ourselves, we must always work to renew our minds. Because it is by renewing our minds, that we stay properly aligned... Scripture(s) Meditation: "For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he." Proverbs 23:7 KJV "But be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." Romans 12:2 KJV "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" 2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV Song(s) Meditation: Residue by Jason Nelson To listen to today's song meditation, click here. Reflection Question(s): We invite you to discuss below. What are the thoughts you constantly have, that are out of alignment of God's will? How have you noticed these thoughts leading you on a different path? What will you do, to get back to where you need to be? Sun'Ray💕
