  • You are ready

    Devotional: God has called you to something and you look around and say, “who me?” You look at your life and all you’ve been through and say ,” Well, can’t you choose someone else?” You aren’t alone, because when it was Moses’ time to be called he did the same thing. Along with Gideon, Esther and countless others. Let this devotional serve as encouragement to remind you that you are ready. In the world, we have gotten ourselves to believe that certifications meets God’s qualifications. Just because a person has a degree in a certain area doesn’t mean they have been qualified by God. To reach people, to break chains off people? This requires the anointing. Which only comes through the qualification process of God. A qualification from God doesn’t come easy. You must experience a true pressing of the soul to release the anointing that lies deep within you. It’s the anointing that qualifies a person and this is what has qualified you. So though you may not see why God has chosen you, know that He has. To someone reading this, I want you to know that you are ready. God has allowed you to go through the trials and tribulations you’ve been through to qualify you for this moment. You may feel unequipped, but know that God equips those whom He calls.   • “On E”

    Devotional: This is the cry of that believer who feels God has left them to drown in an ocean of sorrows: "Another day, yet it is the same as yesterday. A prayer spoken, but yet again it feels that its not answered. Am I living in a new school version of that movie Groundhog Day? Why does God allow me to suffer like this? Doesn't He see that I'm hurting? I must not matter. His love doesn't feel much like love at all right now. I'm tired, frustrated and have nothing left. I am literally finding myself on E." Do any of you relate to this? Know that you aren't alone. Even the very person described as "a man after God's own heart", shared your same sentiment. In the midst of David's suffering he cried out to God continuously just as you have. There are moments in this life where it feels as though God Himself has left us. That in the midst of our greatest need He has grown silent. Let me remind you that feelings are deceitful. Feelings aren't facts. And though what you're facing seems never ending, there is a light in the tunnel. See, often times we speak about the light that's at the end of the tunnel, but with that thinking we rob ourselves of instant deliverance. Why drown in an ocean that God has given us the strength to rise up from? Why stumble in darkness when God has placed a light within us? One that will guide our path and fill every void we have. Though David's circumstances didn't change by the end of this Psalm, his perspective did. He remembered God's faithfulness and how He always honors His Word. That His love for us is everlasting. That He hears every prayer. That He bottles up every single tear. That He comforts us in the moments we need it most. That He fills every void space within us. Whoever you are, find your strength in God's Word and His presence. He never guarantees that we won't experience hard times, but He does assure us He will walk through it with us.   • Oneness

    Devotional: The innocence of a child is truly admirable. Though they are highly impressionable, there are many of their characteristics that we should adopt. One being, their desire for unity. At any given second, you can see their eyes excitedly searching across the room for that one similarity. You can't deny the joy emanating from their bright faces when they see someone loves what they love. I just wonder, how would our lives change, if we did the same? Though we each are unique in nature, many of us seek to boast in those differences. But, where do we leave room to truly connect? When we read scripture, we see God's desire for oneness. For in that oneness, we discover that God is love and when we create that oneness, God's love is in the midst. Maybe depression and loneliness are at an all time high because we fail to see the mirror of our reflections in each other. I'm not saying we erase what makes us unique, but just that we equally celebrate what makes us the same. When you watch an orchestra play, it's amazing how beautiful the music sounds. But if you take a closer look, you will see the many different instruments that come together to create one sound. Does the harmony they create make any instrument less than what it already is alone? Of course not. When you decide to connect/relate to someone else, you don't lose your uniqueness. If anything, the notes you uniquely create are only amplified. As believers and humans in general, let us strive to form those necessary connections. Who knows, that one moment of connection could be the lifeline that someone needs.   • T.M.I (Too much information)

    Devotional: Eccelesiastes 3:7 says there is a time to be silent and a time to speak. Though this is a true piece of wisdom, there's one important piece missing. It is just as important to know when to speak as it is to know what to speak. Between me and you, there is a such thing as too much information. Deciding to keep certain information a secret doesn't make you deceptive but wise. There are times when the excess information you reveal can be used against you. And as we know, the enemy prowls around like a lion seeking to devour us. He can pick up on the scent of that information and use it to blindside you. There's a story of an old and young prophet in 1 Kings 13, that reveals the unfortunate reality of this. The young prophet revealed a secret command the Lord had given him and someone overheard it. Those who overheard it delivered it to the older prophet who twisted the command of the Lord to deceive him. A deceptive plot that instantly led him to his grave. Sounds similar to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden huh? What's today's takeaway? You never know who's listening to you speak. Be more discerning concerning the information you release and when you do so. Don't live in fear, but also don't operate as a fool either. Some secrets are better kept as being that... secret.   • I’mma keep holding my puzzle piece

    Devotional: If you look back over the course of your life, you will recognize pivotal moments. Moments in which your life or situation changed within a blink of an eye. And before you know it you are in another season and yet again, back at the bottom of a new level. As the new battles you'll face and the new blessings are poured out, you get a more faint memory of where you just were. Suddenly your only focus is now getting to the top of this new mountain you're climbing. How many of us have walked through life like zombies? Going from one level to the next and never truly valuing where we already are? I remember back in college when I studied Aristotle, there was this branch of thought focused on what he would call virtue ethics. Meaning that if you are always doing something for the sake of something else you will never be fulfilled. You'll just continue to keep searching for something that never exists. What I learned then and even more so now is that you must learn to value each moment. The true virtue of life is basking in the fullness that it offers no matter where you are. Becoming content and developing a sense of peace no matter how chaotic life may seem. Understanding that every circumstance is simply a puzzle piece that God is fitting into a greater whole. Trusting that everything will work together for your good, despite how you feel. Learning to treat each puzzle piece God gives you as if it's your last.   • Help is on the way (4/16/23)

    Devotional: You have fasted. You have prayed. You have sought your Word. You have even sought the face of the Lord more than ever before. God is saying, "My child, don't worry, I have already answered you. There is help coming towards you in more ways than one. Wherever you look, there will be help. Those prayers you have sent up to me, did not fall on deaf ears. Remember my child that even in the midst of your weeping and sorrow filled nights, I was right there. While you were in distress I sent my mightiest of angels to comfort you. For the shame that you encountered, I shall render back a double portion unto you. Nothing you have done has been in vain. For every sacrifice you made, for everything you have poured out, I declare my child that double is being returned back to you. This is not a waiting season nor a waiting period, these blessings are coming forth now. My child, you have waited on my mighty right hand long enough. I have seen your faithful heart as you have waited. I have admired your love for me as you suffered. There's nothing more for you to do. Simply posture yourself to receive.   • A Harmonious Love Story (10/05/22)

    Devotional: Introducing, the love story of Isaac and Rebekah. This will be a symbolic representation of the number ten and what God means when He says to trust Him with your marriage covenant. The word harmony comes from the Greek Word sumphónésis (#4857). This Greek word is the base root for the English word symphony. A symphony is a harmonious arrangement of different musical notes that come together to form a beautiful piece. As I analyze the love story of Isaac and Rebekah, you will see how the individual parts come together to make a beautiful whole. In our devotional earlier this week, we focused on the prophetic significance of the number ten. You learned that Yod represents the presence of God in every situation. Also, you learned that this number connects to the Hebrew word Eser, which denotes a completed cycle. When a cycle is completed, there's a sense of fulfillment/peace/wholeness. Otherwise in this case known as harmony. How many of you know that when it's your appointed time, God will send an angel? (God did this also when transitioning the Israelites out of Egypt) This angel will be on assignment to ensure everything is in the proper place and working together on schedule to accomplish God's word. In this case, the angel ensured that a relative of Abraham would be at the well and would respond in the way that the servant sought. The servant didn't need to manipulate anything because God (Yod) had already set everything in place. Notice how he even brought ten camels to signify a completed cycle as well. Despite any worries the servant had, Rebekah was already anointed to be the wife of Isaac. This would be the point where she transitioned from anointed to appointed. From prophesied to, to a fulfillment of prophecy. From the gold bracelets Rebekah received to her family even trying to delay her, we see the significance of the number ten. Even her own family couldn't stop this marriage from occurring. Because again, it was God's "Appointed Time." Simply put, when a cycle is completed, He sends an angel before you that sets everything into place. All we have to do is be in the right position and allow God to interweave all the pieces together. When you've reached this place, there's harmony because God is orchestrating the show.   • Ready to give up (11/7/2022)

    Devotional: Have you ever felt ready to give up? Let me give you a few reasons why you shouldn't. Your Harvest... When you choose to give up, you give up on your harvest. Was all the toiling you went through for nothing? The lonely nights? The moments of deep soul healing and crying out to God? Was it without cause? Remember, those seeds you sowed in tears will be reaped in joy. (Psalm 125:5-6) No sacrifice you make will ever go unnoticed. (Jeremiah 31:16) It's greater than you... This one can be hard to understand at times, but it's the truth. What God has placed on the inside of you, is not for you. It's to help advance His Kingdom here on Earth. At times your situations in life can make you appear or feel so small. Let this be a reminder today, that you are very important and needed. God's Kingdom depends on you keeping your hands on the plow. (Luke 9:62) Your lineage matters... Know that you carry future generations on the inside of you and what you decide to do now matters. If you give up, what happens to those generations after you? What spiritual warfare do they now have to encounter? I know it isn't fair that you have to carry these burdens, but God has chosen you. Which means you aren't doing this alone and He is strengthening you every step of the way. Because let's remember, He equips those whom He calls.   • God is in control

    Devotional: When a storm of troubles come in, it's easy for you to become discouraged. I mean, let's be honest. Someone has to pay the bills. Someone has to feed the kids. The last thing a person wants to hear when they feel defeated is "things will get better." Especially when all they want is change to happen right at that moment! But I wanted to remind someone today, that no matter how you feel, God is STILL in control. I'm sure the day Jesus asked His disciples to cross the Galilean sea with Him, they had no clue what was about to happen. Just as many of us don't know what lies up ahead when we give God our yes. However, Jesus went with them into the very situation that would test their faith. Isn't it safe to say that God also goes into our storms with us? When the storms and winds of life rise up against you, remember who those very winds and waters still fall in submission to. So to that somebody that finds themselves in the midst of a severe storm, know that no matter how turbulent the waters become that God is right there in the storm with you.   • Teach Me

    Devotional: Growing up, I used to be that student in class that was nervous to ever ask any questions. For some odd reason, I felt that somehow the teacher expected me to already know and understand everything. Can anyone else relate? When I got to college however, something changed. With more on the line (loans lol), I didn't care how many questions I had to ask. I was going to get my thousands of dollars worth, period! When you look up the meaning of a teacher in the Merriam-Webster dictionary, it simply says one that teaches. Well, what does it mean to teach? To show or explain to someone how to do something. Those moments I wouldn't ask my teacher questions was only holding them back from the very occupation they held. In efforts to appear more wise I was only operating in pure stupidity lol. How many of us do this in our walk with God? We have to be careful to not form these strongholds concerning God's expectations of us. He literally wants us to seek Him when we don't understand. Recall Jeremiah 33:3 , where it says that if we call out to God, He will tell us great and unsearchable things that we don't know. The knowledge of God is so deep! There is no way He expects us to have it all together on our own. Many of you are void of understanding because you ask not. Strip yourself of the pride and put on your cloak of humility. Approach the throne of grace boldly and confidently, seeking to be taught and watch the ways in which God expands your understanding. Scripture tells us that those who are wise listen to advice and accept instruction. (Proverbs 19:20) In the end, will you be counted as wise or as foolish? The decision is up to you. Prayer: Recite the prayer below. Dear Lord my Heavenly Father, I come before you repenting for my ignorance. Instead of seeking you for the answers I needed, I sought other means. Father, forgive me and renew my mind. I pray you lead me into greater understanding concerning the things I don't know. Teach me your precepts and continually guide my path towards one of full surrender and obedience. Remove any pride from within me and search my heart to reveal those things lurking in the shadows that only feed it. Deliver me and take me under your mighty wing. In Jesus name, I pray, Amen...   • We all need support

    Devotional: Every tall building needs a strong foundation. Even the greatest leaders need someone to lean on. (Exodus 17:12) No matter how great a success story, you'll often notice the quiet whispers of the people who helped make it happen. Though people may say they "made it" on their own, realistically speaking, that's not true. Everyday that you live, there's an opportunity for another human being to aid in your success. If we look to nature we see this same thing. What would spring be without the pollination of bees traveling from flower to flower? Or the vitality of trees without the nourishment it receives from the rain being poured out? What about the tree/plant that keeps the caterpillar safe during it's transition in the cocoon? No matter where you look in nature you see this same concept. The growth of one is fueled by the assistance of another. In our faith walk, it's no different. Many of you will say, "well Sun'Ray, I am in isolation in so this is not true. " But are you truly in isolation? Don't you still find your way to a YouTube channel to receive the nourishment you need? A prophetic word that confirms what God has told you? A revelatory teaching that transforms your life? What about those encouraging posts on Instagram that turns a bad day into a good one? I guess what I'm trying to say is that, unless you live on a different planet you truly are never alone. There is always someone God uses to help build you up. No matter how indirect or direct it is, support is support. So just like a tree that is newly planted in the ground leans on it's support to help it grow mighty and strong? That too is how you must learn to grow for the rest of your life. No matter whether it was a book, a teaching or an actual person that might've spoke a word that encouraged me, I never did accomplish anything on my own. Today is a moment for you to reflect on those resources God has been using to give you support. Just because it's not in the way that you want it, doesn't make it any less supportive.   • Seeking God’s Counsel (3/27/22)

    Devotional: We have come a long way from the days of Adam and Eve, but what if we brought ourselves back into that time? Where we would completely rely and wait on God, seeking His counsel above all else. How much different would our lives be? How much more can we be vessels used for a greater purpose? When it came time for Joshua to conquer the promised land, God gave him very clear instructions. He was to go into the land and conquer it by killing all the inhabitants and to not form any covenants. Despite the clear instructions of God, Joshua formed a covenant with the deceptive Gibeonites. Though their deception wasn't his fault, his inability to seek the counsel of God first was. We must be cautiously aware to do the same thing. No matter what season of life you find yourself in, you should make sure your plans are in alignment with God's. What was the major lesson to be learned here from Joshua? To ensure that we always seek the counsel of God before we make any decisions.
